FAQs

Do you offer shipping?
Yes! We ship via UPS 2‑Day Air every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, timed for Friday arrival so your kimchi lands fresh.

  • Shipping cost: $30–$45 depending on your location
  • Packed in insulated boxes with ice packs and bubble wrap
  • Currently shipping within the continental U.S. only

How many jars can I order?
We pack up to 2 jars per box to ensure freshness and safety. Want more? Just place another order. Each counts as a separate box.

My kimchi jar popped open or leaked. Is it still safe to eat?
Yes! That’s your kimchi being alive. As fermentation activates, pressure builds inside the jar especially during shipping causing occasional “pops” or minor leaks.

Pro tip from our label:

“Like most of us, content is under pressure. Open carefully in the sink.”

As long as it’s been kept cold and still smells/flavors great, it’s perfectly safe and probiotic-rich! If you receive a messy jar or feel unsure, just reach out. We're here to help.

What makes Halmoni Kimchi special?
We’re a mom-and-daughter team in Tacoma, hand-packing fresh kimchi weekly using our cherished family recipe. We use whole ingredients, no preservatives or shortcuts, just small-batch care and lots of love.

Is your kimchi vegan?

  • Spicy Vegan Kimchi – 100% vegan (no fish sauce or shrimp paste)
  • O.G. Kimchi – Crafted with traditional anchovy-based fish sauce
  • Baek Kimchi – A mild, garlic-forward white kimchi, non-spicy and no fish sauce

Should I refrigerate my kimchi?
Yes, always keep it refrigerated, even before opening. Kimchi is a live, living food and maintains its best flavor and texture when cold.

How long does kimchi last?

  • Unopened & refrigerated: last several months
  • Once opened: continue fermenting and evolving; eat fresh or wait for funk. It’s your call!

How do I eat kimchi?
On scrambled eggs. In grilled cheese. Stir it into fried rice. With ramen. Or straight from the jar. Our motto: kimchi goes on everything.

Where can I find your kimchi locally?
We sell at select farmers markets and retail shops in the Tacoma and Seattle area. Check out our home page to see where you can find us.

Do you sell year round?
Yes, but we do take short breaks to rest or prepare for big events. Follow us on Instagram @halmoni.kimchi or subscribe to our newsletter for updates and restock alerts.
